# Mug designs for vinyl and sublimation projects

Choose artwork for a personalized mug, add text, and arrange the design in CricutCraft Studio. Match the layout to the measured printable area of your own blank before exporting.

For a mug decal, choose a design with details that remain easy to cut and weed at the final size. Keep important artwork clear of the handle and test placement on the curve of the mug. SVG export supports the vector cutting stage in compatible machine software.

For mug sublimation designs, export PNG at the required size and resolution. Use compatible ink, transfer paper and a sublimation-coated blank. Follow the instructions for the exact mug and press; capacity alone does not establish the printable dimensions or pressing settings.

## Questions

### Should I use vinyl or sublimation for a mug?

Adhesive vinyl decals work on almost any mug but need gentle hand washing. Sublimation and infusible ink need a compatible coated mug and a heat press, and the design becomes part of the surface.

### What size should a mug design be?

Use the template for your exact mug, because the printable area depends on the size and shape. For a single decal, keep the design clear of the handle and the rim.

### Which file format do I export for a mug?

SVG for a cut vinyl decal; PNG for a sublimation or printed wrap.
