About us

Software for people who
make things to sell.

CricutCraft Studio is an independent design studio for cutting machines, heat presses and print-on-demand. We are not affiliated with any machine manufacturer — which is exactly why we can build the parts they have not.

How CricutCraft started

The first version was an iPad app. It did one thing well: browse a large library of cut files, open one on a canvas, change the colours and text, and export it. People liked it. Then they told us what they did after they closed it.

They opened a second tool to mock the design onto a t-shirt, because the customer wanted to see it first. A third to work out whether the order was actually profitable at that blank price. A spreadsheet to track which of the forty names had been cut. And then they did the personalisation by hand, one name at a time, for an evening.

The design was never the bottleneck. Everything around the design was. So we rebuilt the app as a vector-native web studio and put the missing half in the same window: mockups that know their real print zones, personalisation driven by a spreadsheet, nesting that treats material as the cost it is, and export in formats every machine already accepts.

The library came with us — all 7,870 designs across 197 collections, now fully editable in the browser instead of locked behind a tablet.

What we build by

Six decisions we made early and have not regretted.

The file is the product

Our document model is SVG. Nothing is flattened on save, nothing is rasterised behind your back, and what you export is what you drew. A design tool that loses fidelity between canvas and machine is not finished.

Own your work

Projects export in open formats at every tier, including the free one. If you leave, you leave with everything. Lock-in should be a consequence of the tool being good, never of your files being trapped.

Licensing you can read

One page, plain English, no per-design credits and no counting how many shirts you sold. Commercial use is a plan feature, not a maze.

Built for the hundredth order

Most craft software optimises for making one beautiful thing. We optimise for making the same thing two hundred times, correctly, on a deadline.

Honest about limits

We cannot send a job to your machine — manufacturers keep that step closed. We say so on the homepage rather than in a support article after you have paid.

Makers first

Every feature in the product traces to something a real maker complained about. The roadmap is a list of frustrations, ordered by how often we hear them.

Licensing

Licence, in plain English

Personal use — all plans
Make anything you like for yourself, your family and gifts. No limits on quantity, no attribution required.
Commercial use — Maker
Sell finished physical products you make with the designs: shirts, mugs, decals, signs, stickers. No per-item fee, no sales cap, no reporting.
What you may not do — any plan
Resell or redistribute the design files themselves, as files, in bundles, or as part of another design library. The licence covers what you make, not the source art.
If you cancel
Designs you used while subscribed stay licensed for products you already make and sell. You lose access to the Pro library, not to the work you have already done.
Your own uploads
Yours, entirely. We claim no rights over artwork you upload, and we do not train anything on it.

Policies, in full

Plain English, no clause-hunting. Each one is its own page so you can link to it, and every page carries the date it last changed.
