The DXF route around the paywall
Silhouette Studio Basic will not open an SVG, but it will open a DXF. Every design here exports to DXF, which means the free edition of Silhouette Studio can receive work done in a full vector editor without the Designer Edition purchase.
The trade-off is real and worth stating: DXF carries geometry, not colour. Cut layers survive; fills do not. If you have Designer Edition, export SVG instead and keep both.
What stays in Silhouette Studio
Cutting, machine settings, registration-mark calibration and print-then-cut alignment. Those are tied to the hardware and stay where they are.
